Mobile Crane Operator Upgrading or Prep for Red Seal – Course Code: MCURS 303

Duration:  5 days

Prerequisites:  

  • must be at least 16 years of age
  • operating experience on mobile cranes and
  • Hold valid 339A License

Who is this course for?

Individuals who:

  • have operating experience.
  • require upgrading for work on construction sites.
  • want to obtain employment in this trade.
  • want to obtain a Canada-wide 339A license.

Employers who:

  • require employees to be competent operators (”competent workers” as defined by OHSA).
  • must meet the OHSA requirements to prove ”due diligence”.

Course Information:      

Safety standards dictate that operators of any type of mobile crane or hoisting device must be competent and hold a valid 339A license to operate this type of equipment on construction sites.

This course is for operators who already have a valid 339A license for operating mobile cranes in Ontario and wish to obtain a Canada-wide license (Red Seal).

This program offers both theoretical instruction and practical testing in safe operating practices, pre-operational inspections, load chart interpretation, load calculations, review of the current applicable regulations, hand signals, basic rigging principles and other relevant topics sufficient to challenge the Red Seal exam.

Mobile Crane Operator Upgrading & Preparation for D.O.S.T.  – Course Code: MCUPD 305

Duration:  5 days

Prerequisites:  

  • must be at least 16 years of age
  • operating experience on boom trucks and/or mobile cranes
  • must have 1000 hours of experience.

Who is this course for?

Individuals who:

  • want to challenge Ministry Exam for licensing boom trucks 8 -15 ton capacity.
  • want to challenge the Demonstration of Skills Test (D.O.S.T.).
  • want to obtain a license from Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities (339C).

Employers who:

  • require employees to be competent operators (”competent workers” as defined by OHSA).
  • require employees to meet Ministry requirements for License 339C.
  • have cranes or boom trucks over 8 ton capacity.
  • must meet the OHSA requirements to prove ”due diligence”.

Course Information:      

Safety standards dictate that operators of any type of mobile crane or hoisting device over 8 ton must be licensed under the Trades Qualification Act.

This program reviews, upgrades and prepares the operator through both theoretical and practical instruction and testing in safe operating practices, pre-operational inspections, load chart interpretation, load calculations, review of the current applicable regulations, hand signals, basic rigging principles and other relevant topics sufficient to challenge the D.O.S.T. Ministry exam.

Upon successful completion of the course, you receive information regarding requirements for challenging D.O.S.T.

  • operating experience on mobile cranes over 15 ton
  • must have 6000 hours of experience.

Who is this course for?

Individuals who:

  • want to challenge Ministry Exam for licensing of mobile cranes over 15 ton.
  • want to challenge the Demonstration of Skills Test (D.O.S.T.).
  • want to obtain license from Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities (339A).

Employers who:

  • require employees to be competent operators (”competent workers” as defined by OHSA).
  • require employees to meet Ministry requirements for License 339A.
  • have mobile cranes over 15 ton capacity.
  • must meet the OHSA requirements to prove ”due diligence”.
