Excavator, TLB and Loaders as Lifting Devices – Course Code: ETLBL 202

Duration:    3 days

Prerequisites:  

  • must be at least 16 years of age
  • must have operating experience on Excavators, Tractor/Loader/Backhoes and/or Loaders

Who is this course for?

Individuals who:

  • have operating experience and require theory & hands-on testing for equipment use as lifting devices.
  • require certification for work on construction sites.
  • are employed in this trade but are not certified.
  • want to find employment in this trade.

Employers who:

  • require employees to be competent operators (”competent workers” as defined by OHSA).
  • require employees to meet Ministry requirements for certification (Program #P930030).
  • require employees to safely operate Excavators, TLBs and/or Loaders as lifting devices.
  • must meet the OHSA requirements to prove ”due diligence”.

 

Course Information:

Safety standards dictate that operators of any type of mobile crane or hoisting device must be competent and have written proof of training to operate this type of equipment on construction sites.

A qualified trainer delivers both theoretical and practical instruction and testing in Safe Operating Practices; Proximity/Limits of Approach (High Voltage); Signals & Communication; Crane Types, Components, Terms, Concepts; Basic Hydraulics; Wire Rope; Rigging & Rigging Hardware; Pre-Operational Inspections; Crane Set-Up; Load Chart Interpretation & Calculations; Boom Assembly & Disassembly; Basic Crane Operation; Basic Crane Maintenance; review of the Applicable Regulations and other relevant topics.

Format:               

  • Lecture, Demonstration, and Discussion
  • Hands-on and written testing.
